Science Technician for Deer Park School

Science Technician – 20 to 35 hours per week (negotiable), term time only (39 weeks). Weekly working hours and pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate. Grade C – Step 1 FTE £18,933, Actual Annual Salary in the range of £8,753.40 (for 20 hours) to £15,318.84 (for 35 hours).

Deer Park School is a brand new seven-form entry secondary school opening in September 2021 initially with four forms of Year 7 and growing to full capacity of seven forms of entry over the next seven years.

The successful candidate will work directly under and report to the Head of Science at Deer Park School. For the right candidate this is a unique chance to work as part of the founding team in the heart of a new community.

The successful candidate will support teaching and learning within the department by organising practical learning opportunities and will have responsibility for the preparation and setting up of apparatus for science experiments and demonstration, as directed by the Head of Science. With a genuine interest in science, the successful candidate will become a pivotal part of a team of teachers and support staff that strives for the highest levels of student achievement within the subject. Good subject knowledge and ICT skills are essential.

You will be capable of working independently and as a member of a team and will need to have a very flexible approach dealing with a wide range of tasks assisting in other areas of the school as required. Patience, tact and diplomacy are essential attributes for this post as well as being efficiently organised with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
