P4C is an approach to teaching and learning that in its essence is about getting students to think better for themselves and to communicate better with others. It is a philosophical talk-based strategy that is more democratic in the sense that the students create the philosophical questions and dialogue with one another about the chosen question and the teacher facilitates the thinking, reasoning and questioning skills. Educational research is proving this to have positive benefits on teamwork, resilience and communication skills.

At Wildern we have been embedding this approach into our RE department over a number of years and we are really pleased to have been awarded the SAPERE Bronze Award for this. There are a small but growing number of secondary schools that have award status, so we are very proud to be part of pioneering innovative and powerful approaches to teaching and learning.
